Pharmaceutical Companies Compete for RMB10 Billion Business Opportunity

China has earmarked RMB200 million for the development of vaccines and drugs to fight SARS. The value of the SARS vaccine market could be as high as RMB10 billion, according to LIU Qian, director of the Chinese Academy of Medicine. In addition to some Chinese drug makers, Aventis Pasteur and GSK are developing vaccines against SARS.
